Tuberculosis is an infection caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which usually affects the lungs and is characterized by symptoms such as a long-lasting cough and fever.
Cause:
Tuberculosis is caused by an infection with this bacterium and is transmitted through the air.
Symptoms:
The most common symptom of tuberculosis is a long-lasting cough.
Symptoms include fever, night sweats, and body temperature.
Impact:
In severe cases, tuberculosis can damage lung tissue and lead to loss of lung function.
Treatment:
Antibiotics used to treat tuberculosis require long-term use and must be continued until complete recovery.
Early detection and treatment of tuberculosis are important for saving lives.

Globally, 10.6 million new cases of tuberculosis are registered annually.
Mongolia, however, has about 3,500 new cases per year, making it one of the 7 countries with high tuberculosis incidence and one of the 30 countries with high burden of the disease according to the WHO.
By establishing a community-led monitoring system for tuberculosis care, it is important to educate, empower, motivate, and increase participation of the public, establish a system for monitoring care, and provide information and influence to decision-makers.
